Professional janitorial services hack's for cleaning up tough stains with Coca-Cola.
Janitorial Services Hacks with Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola, a staple of American Summer celebrations, has several unexpected uses around the home and office.
Our franchisees have discovered multiple uses for the soda when cleaning customer offices, especially concerning the removal of hard water stains.
While the reasons for Coke's cleaning ability is outside of the scope of this article, you may want to familiarize yourself with a modern study.
For More Information:
Clean Toilets
White porcelain is typically very easy to clean, as long as it is cleaned regularly.
However, hard water can cause rust stains, and a long-untended bowl is, well, disgusting to say the least.
Pour out a can of Coke into the bowl for at least an hour, overnight for severe stains.
Flush and then scrub with a standard toilet brush, repeating as necessary.
Once removed, any conventional green cleaning solution will sanitize the bowl and leave your toilet looking like new.
Clean Sinks
Sinks, like toilets, can be stained by hard water, as well as whatever happens to be dumped down them.
Stainless steel can be just as difficult to clean as porcelain under the right circumstances.
For hard stains around the drain, plug up the sink and pour a can until the stain is fully covered.
Allow the Coke to stand for at least 1 hour, longer for tougher stains, and then scrub away with steel wool and a microfiber cloth.
To remove rust and other stains from sink faucets, handles, pipes, and fittings use steel wool or a toothbrush for hard to reach spots.
Rust Removal
The phosphoric acid and carbon dioxide in Coke make it perfect for cleaning rust off of metal objects.
For smaller objects, fill a suitably sized container and fully submerge the object for several hours, depending on the level of decay.
Rinse and dry the object with a microfiber cloth, and repeat as necessary.
For more massive objects, fill a container and scrub with steel wool or a microfiber cloth, depending on the type of metal (don't use steel wool on chrome).
Black Marker Stain Removal
Black marker stains can be tough to remove.
While this is not recommended for white or light carpeting, and care should be taken with white or light colored walls; pour a small amount of coke on the stain and scrub.
Use a brush or cloth appropriate for the material you are cleaning.
Once the cola has diluted the stain, apply soapy water and scrub out what remains.
Dry up the soapy water with a microfiber cloth or dirt extractor and vacuum.
Clean Grout and Tile
Grout and tile can stain just as quickly as sinks and toilets.
Pour out enough coke to cover a small area and allow to sit for several minutes.
Do not permit it to dry.
Scrub with a green scouring pad and water, and then clean up with a green cleaning solution and a microfiber mop.
Clean Oil Stains
This works better on fresh stains, as opposed to long-standing ones, but you should experience some positive effect regardless.
Just pour the coke out on the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes.
Scrub vigorously with a deck or steel brush.
Repeat as necessary.
